Have you heard of this revolutionary bill, The food security bill? It is a big farce. We had a good crop this year and we dont have a good system to store it. If we cant ensure the storage of the food grains, how can we even think of its seemless distribution?
And by the way the goverment itself is saying there are flaws in its public distribution system[PDS]. Well? When did we discover the flaws? answers is they were always knows. What did we do to fix them/ Nothing. we are workin on it. How long? since we got independece. Well. How long will it take to fix it? Need to discuss with Sonia ji [ read- forever.] Why Soniaji? How about talking to Manmohan singh ji? Need to check with Sonia ji if we can do that? And as it is he will talk to Sonia ji. Then why not I do it myself. Well said buddy. Smart you are!
Coming back to the topic. We are talking about the food security bill. We have budgetted for this failure. IT added to our budget deficit but who cares? What does it guarantees? it Guarantees food for all 'poor' people.
Who is poor? someone who earns less than Rs. 32 per day. [diaclaimer : I dont know, what is the definition today.]. I tell you, even if someone begs for 4 hours a day, he can earn more. then we would not be covered by this bill. Becuase he is not poor. :) . Do you see the beauty of this bill.
Suppose we still find such people, how much will they get? If we go by the public confession by our own ex-Prime Minister [honorable Shri Rajiv Gandhi], only 25% reaches to the beneficiary. That means he will only get half a meal everyday. Is this a food security?
Government says, how can one bill [Lokpal bill] eradicate the curruuption? it can not. if it cannot, why should we have it? [disclaimer: they have conveniently changed their stand later] If we go by this argument, why should we have a food security bill? Answer is simple. it is not for poor people but for all the loyal middlemen and dalals who will be fed on it.
